Daniel Weller - Emmer Wheat Recipe is the first in a new series from Buffalo Trace that will explore variations in W.L. Weller's famous wheated mash bill with biannual releases. Emmer wheat is an ancient grain, the original cultivated wheat, and this whiskey was distilled in the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Microstill, a combination pot and column still of Wheatley's own design created for experiments, and then aged for around 12 years. It was bottled at 47% ABV.
Daniel Weller was the grandfather of William Larue Weller, a man who came from a distilling background and moved his family to Kentucky in 1794.
