Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon for the eponymous distillery made from corn, rye and malted barley. It’s aged in new oak barrels in historic old warehouses. The award-winning bourbon is batched from no more than 40 barrels at a time, and is aged on the middle floors of the distillery warehouses where the temperature fluctuation is the greatest. A top whiskey, with oodles of vanilla, barrel char and spicy complexity.
Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness.
Brown sugar, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard, oily espresso beans, a touch of chocolate-covered raisins and toasty wood.
Good length with sweet spices, cinnamon gum and toffee.
First time for me trying this bourbon. I'm usually drinking Bulleit, WT 101, or Larceny. This has a direct, unassuming taste. The nose carries a muted coriander tone. I'm getting a lot of rich vanilla pastry cream, some spicy oak, caramel and hay. I used to chew on raw wheat berries and this reminds me of the aftertaste they left, although I don't think there's any wheat in the mash. Dried apples mixed with dusky grain. After all, I have to say I'm a fan.
Good beginner bourbon. Great sipper for the price (US).
For the money an excellent bourbon. Easy drinking that puts a smile on your face, what more do you need?
I'm usually an Irish whiskey drinker, because I like the smooth, easy drinkability. I've had some bourbon in the past (Jack of course, but also Woodford Reserve, Bulleit, Makers Mark, and a few others). BT really stands out for me as a combination of nice flavor and easy to drink. Not overly sweet, but nice and warming on a fall/winter evening. Not so expensive that I won't put it in a Sour or Old Fashioned for my wife either.
A lovely bourbon for beginners or all night sipping, flavours of apple pie and custard. Don't expect the bottle to last long as it's so drinkable but at this price that's not a problem
