Precious Port Charlotte single malt from Islay's Bruichladdich distillery! Distilled in 2004, this 13-year-old expression spent its time in a combination of ex-burgundy, ex-sauternes, and ex-bourbon casks, imparting a wealth of rich fruit and sweet vanilla character to the smoky peated malt within. In 2018, we had the joy of cracking open the casks ourselves, releasing a total of 43 bottles as part of our Master of Malt independent bottling range.
Damp earth and vegetal peat open the way, with roasted nuts and meaty malt. A salty touch of sea spray joins along the way, with charred heather in the distance.
Creamy vanilla pod softens medicinal iodine, while floral forest fruits begin to creep in. A hearty core of vegetal peat smoke, with hints of charred meat keeps things grounded.
Things soften off elegantly towards the finish with silky vanilla, burnt caramel, and earthen embers.
