Bruichladdich - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

This is an early That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottling of single malt Scotch whisky from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. On the graphic-novel-style label, we see a Laddie who’s made it to the most prestigious seat someone could sit in during the 1970s - behind the conveyor belt of The Generation Game.

The Laddie has the chance to win all manner of wonderful prizes, and they all seem to follow the theme of Bruichladdich releases. Let’s have a look at what he could win. There’s an octopus with spiders stuck to the ends of its eight tentacles in honour of the Octomore, there’s some DNA in reference to their DNA series, there’s Beethoven’s Symphony #3, which is known as Eroica, a name it shares with the Bruichladdich Cuvee 640, and more. Didn't he do well! I hope you’re playing this at home, so I’ll leave you to figure out the rest, and of course, don’t forget the cuddly toy.

Batch 1 is a release of 94 numbered bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, blends and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Wonderfully malty with a bit of coastal, pebble beach character. Sweet, ripe clementine too.

    Palate

The palate opens with clean barley, then moves on to vibrant orange peel and a generous helping of fruit salad.

    Finish

Re-emergence of the clean barley for the mid-length finish, which just begs you to take another sip. Oh, go on, then!

    Overall

A very moreish Bruichladdich indeed, one that would definitely earn a Brucie Bonus (or was that Play Your Cards Right...?)
