28 year old Islay single malt here from the Bruichladdich Distillery, independently bottled by Hunter Laing. This one spent its time slumbering in a refill hogshead cask from 1991 to 2019, and was then bottled at cask strength for The First Editions series. 295 bottles were produced.
Grassy malt with honeyed cereal, sea breeze and melted butter.
Spicier than the nose suggests, with cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted oak. Lots of apricot, pear and apple following on.
Layers of toffee, oat, lemon and black pepper.

It really is special this one...
Typical Bruichladdich, wonderful nose with a complex palate and medium long finish - recommended.
