Bruichladdich
Scotland
Single Malt

A collectible old single malt from Bruichladdich! The second edition of the 12-year-old was matured in bourbon casks, some first-fill, some refill. Distilled from Optic barley, the malt was peated to 3ppm. Originally Bruichladdich intended to keep this expression going for a few years, but they ran out of stocks after only a year and a half.

Gentle peat, quite coastal, light and fruity.
Slight burn, despite the low strength. Malty and salty, rather astringent.
Oak, tannic, quite sappy.

I truly love the weight of this scotch and the lovely vanilla tones. The finish lasts and leaves you wanting more. This was a shining star on a day where I tasted several scotches including Blue Label.
Possibly the perfectly balanced Islay dram. Top of the tree.
Slight burn tannic, Recommended.
Excellent!
