Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Nutella on brown bread, sea salt and a hint of lemon zest.

Palate

Vanilla notes are up front and sweet (though earthy vanilla pod does appear after a minute). Plenty of coastal peat smoke.

Finish

Lingering smokiness.

Nice but not nasty

Early in my journey, I tried this and loved it, but as my palette develops, I find this one watery and lacking and great flavours or solid smokiness. A nice drop but this will be the last bottle I buy. Should have stuck with the Talisker for a similar price. For a few dollars more just buy Johnnie Green.

Very poor, overoaked.

I don't like this one. It tastes of the cheap spirits they had lying around that ought to have gone to be blended but that instead were heavily oaked to cover the imperfections and then bottled. I normally like Islays, with the exception of Laphroaig, which is rather phenolic for my taste. The others are delicious. This isn't, I finished up losing it in blended whisky.

Save your money

This is a fairly cheap single malt. And in this case you absolutely get what you pay for. Smokiness alone does not a good single malt make. I received this bottle as a gift. I would be angry if I had paid for it myself. I have given it several tries and sad to say, the remains have of this bottle will be coating my kitchen sink drain pipe. Not even worth half a star rating.

I picked this up for £20 at asda and I love it a very Moorish sweet then peaty malt .the best drinkable malt I have had for the money treat yourself and enjoy
