An excellent indie Islay whisky here, distilled by the brilliant Bowmore and bottled up for the Darkness range. However, before it was bottled, it was allowed a finishing period in a Moscatel sherry octave cask! Much smaller than your run-of-the-mill cask, these octave casks offer a greater surface area to volume ratio, imparting oodles of sherried notes to the whisky - exactly what the Darkness range is all about!
Blueberry muffins, maple syrup, soft earthy smoke slowly building.
Apple pie with plenty of cinnamon and brown sugar. Charred oak and clove, plus a hint of chocolatey malt.
Poached plum, orange oil and another hint of roasted cedar.
