The heart of the Bowmore range, the 12 year old exhibits some beautiful coastal notes with a gentle peat, it is the balance that the floral element presents that makes this a great entry bottling for Bowmore.
Coastal smoke and ash soon make way for bergamot, orange zest, lemon slices and some hay before becoming rather floral, heather smoke now competing with the ash.
Lovely and rounded, honeyed even, initially. Vanilla, perfumed smoke and coastal elements develop. Dark Peat. Blossom, oily sweetness.
Smoky and long. Sea spray, dry grass, a touch of ash and citrus.
Classic stuff and the heart of the Bowmore range. Smoky, fruity, coastal, delicious.
Well to be honest, I could only smell smoke, wood and vanilla, taste notes again woody and more smoke,. Very mellow and smooth. Only after taste I got was Smokey wood.
Absolutely outstanding single malt whiskey, at every level, exceptional ? an award winning whiskey in my opinion
I have tried a lot of Bowmore many years ago ( Enigma, Legend, 15 years old Mariner, cask strength etc.) They were ALL fantastic, VERY peaty and maritim. First I have bought a bottle of Bowmore 12 years old in 2011 . It was total different to the actual bottle of Bowmore 12. It had much more smoke. Now the smoke notes are almost gone. This whisky is now much sweeter , more a Speysider. Don`t get me wrong, this is not a bad whisky at all, but if I want a peated whisky, then I would buy Caol Ila 12, Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig 10 etc. After Talisker 10 ( the same story ) it is another huge disappointment for me
Nope! I perservered with this for as long as i could and tipped about a third of bottle down the sink. I am sure bowmore can make good whisky, but this just isn't.
Very good I drunk the beat whisky is the world and this one is far better than some that I spend £500 for a bottle , it is a smoked whisky if you don’t understand it is don’t like you can try and may like may not . But I loved . My double dose with a small splash of water . Is what I need in the end of the day and for that price come on is a bargain.
