This Norwegian single malt whisky is the sixth release of Bivrost distillery's 'nine worlds of Norse mythology' series. Made from Nordic barley and glacial water, this whisky matured in re-charred bourbon and Islay casks, stored in underground bunkers as well as a modern interpretation of a Viking longhouse. Heleheim takes its name from Norse mythology's underworld, ruled over by Hel, the daughter of trickster god Loki. This whisky is rather heavenly however, with plenty of oaky character and some gentle smoke.
Oaky vanilla, porridge sprinkled with brown sugar, and a touch of allspice.
Crumbly fudge, with some oaky char, peppery spices, and wafts of gentle smoke.
Distant peat, with some cloves, and crackers.
