In celebration of Fèis Ìle 2024, we have a limited-edition Big Peat! This year, the Islay was finished in rum casks. There's just 5,688 bottles, filled at 48% ABV with no colouring and no chill-filtration.
Peated barley and smoke give way to a warming, spicy style plus toasted marshmallows.
Oily and thick with a distinctly Islay character alongside flambéed banana, barbecued meat and honeyed malt.
Coal dust lingers with a charred pineapple and allspice sweetness.
I am impressed with this special dram. It’s living proof that Blended malts should not be overlooked - the depth of flavour and overall quality was excellent.

Opened this last week and mighty impressed by the balance of peat, smoke, phenols and Islay with a sweet caramel rum impact. Impressive and moreish!

I have loved all of the expressions of Big Peat and this is another winner,beneath the oily surface,which I love is banana, pineapple,marshmallow,it's just the contrasts,it all works.I think the Xmas 22 edition had similar flavors but the rum casks just add another level.Downside,slightly overpriced.
