Big Peat has received yet another festive get-up! This is the 2019 edition Big Peat at Christmas, an annual release of the Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing. Built from malt whiskies produced at a selection of Islay distilleries, including Ard, Bowmore, Caol Ila and even the closed Port Ellen, and bottled at 53.7% ABV, this certainly is something to sip on a chilly winter evening. Perhaps after a cracking Christmas dinner, perhaps...?
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Burnt wood and salted caramel, with a whiff of sea air.
Palate
Juicy stone fruit and more caramel. Still plenty smoky, with loads of toasty peat wafts.
Finish
Ash, drying baking spice and another helping of sea breeze.
