A 2011 vinage Benromach, released as part of the Wood Finish bottling series. The single malt was aged initially in first-fill bourbon barrels, and was then finished for just under two years in Sassicaia wine casks from Bolgheri in Tuscany, Italy. It was bottled in 2019 at 45% ABV and this expression never fails to impress, full of summer fruit and just a wisp of smoke.
Spiced and stewed fruits, just a hint of smoke and buttery pastries.
Fresh and vibrant summer fruits, orange peel, oak spice and creamy milk chocolate.
Gentle smoke lingers on the finish alongside a slight tannic note and berry sweetness.

It's good! Not the most complex thing ever, but still delicious- like a beautifully cooked burger. The expected vanilla and floral notes are there, plus a very light peat-smoke.
This scotch tastes like old burnt rubber tire, well rotten compost pit, sweaty sneakers - all dissolved in rubbing alcohol. Bad aftertaste lingers for hours, mouth rinse won't help to get rid of it. What a waste of money.
My absolute favourite Benromach malt. So individual, if you enjoy a bit of smoke after a lovely smooth creamy mixed fruit taste, then this is for you. The smokiness is gentle on the nose and mixes within the palate but doesn't ever leave the experience, excellent.
