    Benriach The Twelve

From Benriach's 2020 relaunch of its cracking core range comes The Twelve, a 12-year-old Speyside single malt matured in a trio of casks - namely sherry casks, bourbon casks and Port casks! This maturation has imparted dried fruit notes galore, alongside wafts of good coffee and subtle spices. Very impressive indeed.

A very nice malt for the price

There is quite a depth of flavours which are not easy to identify with my palate anyway. There's a definite hit of citrus in the background - I would say orange. Overall, it is very enjoyable. And I hope to win the trip to Benriach.

    A Speyside specialty to savour

This is a great marriage of the three different casks, giving you a delicious and reasonably complex whisky. The tasting notes are very much there with immediate syrupy sweet nose and candied orange. The soft oily texture was delightful on the palate and I also found notes of cherries and the dried fruits with a smooth chocolate, citrus and soft almond finish - excellent value and a worthy Speyside contender in my collection, I like it.

    Full flavoured, with lingering sweetness

Great full flavour right off the bat. Rich amber colour. I enjoyed the mix of toffee sweetness and a little port. Left a pleasant lingering taste. One of the best lower priced whisky I've tried in a while, would definitely buy again. Husband also very much enjoyed.

    Sweet and Tasty.

I really like this - it's sweet and tasty, and a bit different. Unless the idea of sweetness puts you off, you should give it a try - I was attracted by the tasting note, and it was better than I'd expected! I currently have 58 whiskies from around the world (half Scotch) and this is definitely worthy of a place in the collection - I'll be buying again.

Although review is not great, please try and gauge for yourself

Born in a land of hard competition and sadly only sits mid-table. The nose is harsher than I like, palate is like that of a highland and finish leaves the taste of alcohol. For those reading this (for comparison) my favourite tipples are (1) balvenie 12 and (2) macallan gold.
