From Benriach's 2020 relaunch of its cracking core range comes The Twelve, a 12-year-old Speyside single malt matured in a trio of casks - namely sherry casks, bourbon casks and Port casks! This maturation has imparted dried fruit notes galore, alongside wafts of good coffee and subtle spices. Very impressive indeed.
Maple syrup on blueberry pancakes, dark chocolate, quince and orange.
Honeyed cereals, cooked apple, chocolate peanuts and soft, almost jammy sultanas.
Mocha, honey, dried fruit and mixed peels.
beautifully married this.. black or blueberry, and a little strawberry and banana too.. pepper that goes right to finish. some buttery vanilla from the bourbon, but the two wine casks hold the strongest hand. Slightly swet but not enough to make it sickly. Im quite enamoured with this. Decent mouthfeel too. considering price and age.. 5/5 struth
Its very good but I prefer the smoky version, just my personal taste
Disappointed with this, far too sweet and concentrated, I added water (a lot) but my original dislike to the homogenized flavour remained, so I gave it away.
Not a bad whisky but not one I would buy again,it's good value for money as it is bottled at 46% and natural colour but I think it is chill filtered as it did not turn cloudy with the addition of water but nothing stood out for me especially the short finish. Lots of other 12yr olds around this price bracket that I would go for instead of this, having said that my Dad really liked it so everyones taste is different.
I am very new to whisky as I’ve never been a spirit drinker but this I thought was a great drink. Not rough like other whisky I’ve had in the past. Definitely loved the maple syrup that came through. Plenty others for me to choose from but will definitely buy another bottle of this.
