For the second batch of Benriach Cask Strength, the distillers in Speyside have combined whisky matured in bourbon, oloroso sherry and virgin oak casks. Intensely flavoursome stuff.
Fresh orange, sawdust, burnt sugar and prune.
Ginger root and mint, followed by peanut brittle and fennel.
Lasting brown sugar and raisin sweetness.
Rachel knows what she's doing. It's pretty good in my opinion with loads of cask influence sticking well on a younger 9-11 year old cask strength, if you expect a sherry bomb, you will be disappointed, this is much more a testament of woody flavours. Yet, it's fresh, it's a different approach to most BenRiach, I think it's a pretty good batch. 60.6% natural colour, if you into wood, you'll love that one.
Awesome Stunning value for money Make an age statement version plz
Nose: Butter, toffee, sweet oak-spice, gentle malt. (I am not getting prune or fresh orange) Palate: Oak-spice, touch of mint, toffee and honey. Not a lot of fruity notes. Anise grows on the finish. 4 or 4,5.... eeeh touch and go.
