Benriach have extended their pleasingly peaty Authenticus series with a 30 year old expression (following on from the 21 Year Old and 25 Year Old). A rich, smoky, well-balanced dram from the fantastic distillery.
Mature oak joined by earthy vanilla and smoky peat. A whiff of mince pie and shortbread.
Powerfully peaty, though it doesn't overwhelm the palate. Mint chocolate, cigar box and a note akin to rancio all appear.
Long-lasting smokiness.
