Stories always start at the beginning (unless they're one of those purposely confusing stories like Memento or those Funnybones books - it's never explained why they're skeletons!), and this is the introductory release from The Balvenie Stories range! These releases all give light to events and people in Balvenie's past and present - this one, for example, takes inspiration from apprentice malt master Kelsey McKechnie and her idea to import virgin oak barrels from Kentucky and deeply toast them at the distillery's cooperage. They were then filled with Balvenie's ex-bourbon oak aged whisky for a finishing period, resulting in... Well, this very whisky you see here!

I have had the Balvenie Double Wood in the past and liked it so thought I would try the American Oak. I was very pleased with the smooth taste, even my wife liked it and she is not a whiskey drinker. I will be getting another bottle for. Christmas.
A new one to me, love the sweetness with the added depth of oak.
Having tried The Balvenie Doublewood in the past, I decided to purchase the sweet toast of American oak, and my goodness what very smooth tasting single malt. Everything about the taste was great. Great price, fast delivery. Well done.
This was bought as a Christmas gift so hasn't been opened yet. I chose it because of the tasting notes...it sounds delicious. It is nicely presented and I know that it will be well received. As always, from this Company, delivery was prompt and efficient
I’m always happy too see a new Scotch come through this whisky repressed bullshit Provence we call Ontario, and even happier that it’s a Balvenie. This bottle was not what I expecting, but still just as lovely as all the others I have had by this ever evolving distillery. My amateur notes: Nose: sweet chard oak, fresh hay, honeysuckle, candied nuts. Taste: toffee, oak, malty, (apple-cinnamon oatmeal) Finish: short, dry, sweet.
