A 2000 vintage single malt from Balblair, released to replace their 1999 3rd Release. This expression was bottled in 2017 and boasts a core of sherried spice alongside creamy vanilla sweetness.
Honey-drizzled barley, gingerbread, chocolate buttons.
Stocky toffee pudding, citrus zest, cinnamon, a touch of sea salt.
Warming oak, Curaçao orange and coffee bean.

It’s me again - The Mac - 18 months on - And sadly but gladly I’ve opened a few of the 1990 (90) and 2000 (00) that I had collected ( couldn’t resist) as we can only get them in specialist shops with any left or at auction. Seriously, whisky just doesn’t get much better than these two. I like many am gutted that Inverhouse decided to move to Age Statements. It was such a treat when a new “vintage” came out and we all hurried to try and collect... ah well all good things must come to an end... or do they Inverhouse.? Come on bring them back!
Have tried the 90 2nd release (Favourite) the 91 3rd Wow and the 00 2nd release today. I don’t like scoring whisky as many people do with 80s and 90s then bickering over half points etc. These vintages are off the scale good and a credit to the genius behind all aspects and the people involved in the making of their wonderful offerings. Worth more than what we pay for them. God bless you all up there (I have visited you) and thank you for doing what you do. The Mac. Our friend with review 8/8/18 below is bang on with review. Balblair never, but never, fail to deliver. This is a whisky that you can't hurry - it just makes you want to sink into a chair pick up a book and chill for an hour. Sweet but with a bite and a long smooth after taste. A friend introduced me to Balblair many years ago and kits the best gift I have ever been given.
