The folks at Signatory picked out a fab pair of casks here, containing delicious single malt from Auchroisk! Matured in a pair of hogsheads between March 2009 and February 2022, this 12 year old expression is a cracking example of Auchroisk's mellow style.
Buttery flapjack, soft toasted oak with baked apples and malty undertones of milky coffee.
The apples are joined by juicy pears, doughy cinnamon buns, and sweet marmalade creep in with some earthy, herbal spice beneath.
A touch of flint, peppery prickles of ginger, softened by creamy barley and orchard honey.

Yet another brilliant Auchroisk. Why this distillery's whisky is not better known is a mystery to me - but in a way, I'm glad. The tasting notes above are pretty spot on but I'd emphasise that this is a sweet whisky and the finish is not as spicy as some Auchroisks I've had in the past. I'd also add that this whisky was matured in a first-use hogshead. Get it while you can!
