Sherried single malt from Auchroisk, independently bottled by James Eadie. This one was treated to a 12 year long maturation, including a finishing period in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. Following this, the James Eadie team bottled it up at cask strength, with just 227 bottles produced. Always fond of a good Auchroisk, we are, and we've found that it does rather well when brimming with sherried deliciousness, so this one ought to be fab indeed!
Red apples, sultanas, and a hint of toasted oak.
Marzipan, molasses, cinnamon, subtle sweet smoke.
Pine, dates, more cinnamon, Christmas cake.

A really great whisky. All the good stuff you expect from a sherried whisky--Christmas cake, dried fruits, figs--, but with an apply freshness too. Not as complex as older whiskies, of course, but for the price you can’t expect much more. Highly recommended. So far, my experiences with James Eadie as a bottler have been very positive.
This really is a great bottle of whisky. I am not at the point where I feel I can trust James Eadie as a bottler. Rich, Christmas-cakey, all the good stuff you want in a sherried whisky, but also with a bright apply freshness. Not quite the complexity of an older whisky of course, but for the price, great.
