Single Malt
Auchentoshan
From the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands comes a triple distilled single malt Scotch whisky aged entirely in first fill American oak casks. A light, bright whisky with plenty of vanilla sweetness at its centre - great as an aperitif dram.
Oranges and lemons, toffee chunks and milk chocolate. Wafts of grassy air and clotted cream.
Bounty bars, more citrus peels and peaches. A little bit buttery, with golden barley and oak spice developing on the mid palate.
Lasting notes of grapefruit and toffee pennies.
This is my first try with this Whisky (the name put me off as I couldn't pronounce it ?). I'm very pleasently surprised. It's light, airy, buttery followed by citrus bitterness. Then once swallowed comes a rush of spice and a long peppery burn. I like it ?
Mine was unpleasantly bitter. Maybe it was from a bad batch but it certainly wasn’t the smooth, wast drinker I was expecting
I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews. I found this whisky to be really nice. I detected toffee and dark chocolate.
A Lowlands delight
Quite pleasant on the nose (a powerful sniff will burn your nose). Hint of coconut, woody and a hint of citrus.. The taste however is very bitter and an unpleasant alcohol burn at the end destroys any flavours with a slight citrus-y hit at the very end. One of my least favourite whiskys.
