Arran
Scotland
Single Malt
Officially launched in 2006, this 10 year old lies at the heart of the Isle of Arran range and exudes all the honeyed richness we have come to associate with the island distillery.
Herbal, biscuity, hedgerow greenness and dried grass, like a long English summer's afternoon.
Sweet. Quite malty, digestive biscuits, followed by green fruits and Cox's apple peel.
Slightly bitter, maltiness.
£6.65 - £54.99
High burn, low depth, bitter yes. Not particularly good. Sorry.
The green apple is very prevalent on the nose and taste. Absolutely terrific. And I also got that slight bitterness at the end. The flavors are distinct. I highly recommend this whisky.
Biscuits... yes, and a tad malty too, but 'long English summer'... nope. Anyway, it's a fine single malt on the lightish side but with a divine and complex finish. It took me a while to enjoy it, but again, with the addition of a few drops of good water and left to stand, it blossoms.
Was a gift from somebody and was amazed to be frank. So unexpectedly smooth. Not as much to it as some, but for a 10yo at this price, it's such a nice drink. Could be an every day'er
as someone always trying new expressions i gave this a shot after reading positive reviews, but not expecting too much at the price, but really am astounded at just how good, balanced & tasty it is, and I can't see where any of the negative reviews come from. In a way i dont like posting too good a review, as the more popular a scotch is the less supply there becomes, and the price shoots up (just like when i used to buy the old glendronach revival cheaply lol), but the arran 10 deserves recognition, and as an everyday scotch i love it
