The September 2022 release of Cask Strength from Ardnamurchan, this year's sees the folks at the distillery opt for a higher percentage of peated whisky compared to previous releases, aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, alongside unpeated, sherry-aged malt. Bottled at 58.4%, and non-chill filtered, this is a Highland single malt that's certainly on the smokier side.
Waves of maritime smoke, with oaky vanilla, and lemon zest.
Coastal peat, with ripe summer berries, warm oak, and gentle, peppery spice.
The peat lingers, with gentle seaweed salinity.
A perfect balance of peat-seasalt-sherry-bourbon with ripe fruit mix if that's your thing! A complex bottle of tricks. At 58.4% it also knocks your socks off. Intriguing and well worth the price. I will definitely get another bottle if possible.
