Single cask single malt from the Ardmore distillery, matured for 20 years (between October 1996 and April 2017) in a refill hogshead before being bottled by Hunter Laing for the old Malt Cask series. A release of 278 bottles.
Earthy peat is present from the start, but this one is much more vanilla-forward on the nose than many other Ardmore whiskies we've tried.
Freshly cut cedar and old oak, leading once again into peat smoke. Subtly grassy, too.
Caramel sweetness and peppery heat in good balance.
