This splendid Ardmore single malt Scotch was released by Danish indie bottler Fadandel after spending 11 years in a cask that previously held Laphroaig whisky! As you might expect, that cask has enhanced the earthy, oily smokiness of the spirit magnificently. Distilled in 2008, this expression was bottled up in December 2020, and is poignantly labelled "last bottling before Brexit". A release of 235 cask strength bottles.
Wisps of bonfire smoke, quite herbal with hints of dried rosemary, anise, and biscuity malt.
Richly peated with wafts of iodine and charcoal, softer notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and coconut nestle amongst the smoke.
Softly salty, with sweet caramel to balance. Vanilla continues to mingle with dense tar and oily smoke.
