The potent combination of rich peat smoke and sweet sherry come together in this Lowland single malt Scotch whisky from Annandale Distillery. Expanding its smoky Man O'Sword range, this single cask was matured in a single Oloroso sherry butt from Miguel Martin in Spain before being bottled at 61.1% ABV.
Fruit cake, burnt pine, roasted nuts, sherry-stained oak, and orange peel.
Toasted almonds, rich malt, dried fruit, liqourice, and Lapsang Souchong.
Earthy peat embers linger.
I don’t have the most educated palate so treat this review with caution. I loved this whisky, highly indulgent. Full of XMAS and sherry sweetness with a serious nasal explosion kick. A equal mix of Springbank 10 and Laphroaig. You can taste the smoke from the peat but the sherry sweetness mellows it perfectly. 61% strength so small sips recommended.
