Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this is an older bottling of 10-year-old single malt from Aberlour. A perennial favourite, typical of the modern Speyside style and thoroughly approachable. Such is its popularity that this bottling has been exported to over fifty countries.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Sweet and full. Sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness.
Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel and the vaguest whisper of something akin to synthetic banana.
Caramel and honey, the malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger.
Lovely and rich.

I'm still fairly new to single malts but I thought I'd add my two pence. Picked up a bottle for £23 on offer. Taste and smell are pleasant and has a sweet spicy Finish that's maybe a little sickly. Added a drop of water but it seemed to make it rougher on the swallow. Definitely better neat. I still struggle to pick out flavours and nuances described by seasoned drinkers but I can get toffee malt and honey from this with a little gingerbread spices. Not bad but I'm still learning.
If you're looking to show off, then reach for something else but if you're drinking for yourself and you're on a limited budget and are saving the good stuff for a different occasion then you could do much worse than this. Like others here I like a couple of drops of water to smooth the edges a little.
If you're just getting into this and starting a collection, on a budget, I'd say the Aberlour 10 is worthy of a place. That's how I came to it ...and 350 single malts later, I'm still here! It's a pleasant, representative, fairly young, Speyside. If I'm going to 'Amazon' it up, "Those who enjoyed this, also enjoyed the Knockando 12, the Glen Moray 12, the Glenrothes Select and lying-in, on a Sunday." Ian
