The Aberfeldy distillery is nestled in the foothills of the central Highlands, and has been in operation since it was founded in 1898. Matured for a generous 21 years, this single malt boasts classic Highland character with layers of heather honey, nutty malt, and zesty fruit, joined by a rich depth of dried fruits and delicate smoke.
Runny honey, dried fruits, and biscuity malt enlivened by a fresh, zesty quality, and notes of waxed citrus.
Silky vanilla and creamy oak lead to refined smoke, with notes of marzipan, candied orange, and floral fruit.
Ripe white peach, sultanas, and a good wave of honey, a smidge of wood smoke, backed up by caramelised almonds and a touch of toasted coconut.
Beautiful dram. People saying it's smoky are talking absolute nonsense. It's everything I hoped the 12YO was - smooth, honeyed and with a stunningly mellow finish. Lovely stuff.
they all have colds in your nose but the whiskey was absolutely great
Good single malt but the age and therefore price weigh it down. Nice, wood flavor that is hidden behind a strong smokiness. This scotch has nearly no nose and a very clean/dry finish. I propose that if this is your drink maybe try Glenmorangie Origonal 10 year along with a nice cigar and you will likely be more satisfied and have more money left in your pocket. If you can't or don't enjoy tobacco try the Isley Lagavulin.
One of the finest whiskeys I've tasted. Smooth and goes down well and leaves a nice taste afterwards.
Yes, it's an inexpensive foray into the realm of 21 year old scotches but don't let the price fool you. It's a very nice whisky at a very affordable price. About. $40 at Specs. As always, taste is subjective. I think it's a great buy.
