Coconut is not a flavour typically associated with The Macallan. That is precisely what makes this whisky so interesting. The Whisky Mastery Team selected American oak casks for their ability to develop naturally occurring coconut aromas and flavours during maturation. Sherry seasoned American oak provides much of the whisky’s structure and character, while bourbon casks help to finesse its sweeter, more tropical side. Bottled at 46.3% ABV, the result is recognisably The Macallan, but with a playful streak.

The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea

Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid, an aromatic style of oolong tea, this limited release explores the floral, fruity, and gently roasted flavours shared by tea and whisky. The single malt is predominantly matured in sherry seasoned American oak casks, bringing notes of peach, honey, flowers, and vanilla. Whisky from sherry seasoned European oak casks adds roasted character, richer fruit, and a touch of tannic dryness, while bourbon casks provide additional sweetness. The presentation box is made using discarded tea leaves unsuitable for consumption, giving them a considerably more glamorous second act.

Created in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, Vibrant Oak celebrates the role of oak in shaping The Macallan’s whisky. The single malt matured in a combination of first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and refill sherry casks. The former brings vanilla, citrus, sweet spices, and toasted character, supported by the richer dried fruit notes associated with sherry maturation. Repurposed oak chippings left over from the cask making process were incorporated into the label and presentation box. A whisky about oak, packaged in oak. That’s okay with us. Or should that be oakay.

The Macallan Harmony Collection Rich Cacao

The first Harmony Collection release was created in collaboration with pastry chef Jordi Roca of three Michelin starred restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, alongside chocolatier Damien Allsop of Casa Cacao. Single malts matured in sherry seasoned European and American oak casks were chosen to create a profile rich in chocolate, dried fruit, honey, vanilla, and spice. It is deeply indulgent stuff, although pouring it over a chocolate fondant remains entirely at your own risk. The presentation box was made using discarded cacao pod husks, tying the whisky’s chocolate inspired character to its packaging.

Guardian Oak was created with Cirque du Soleil as a tribute to the European oak casks that play such an important role in The Macallan’s house style. Initially released for global travel retail, the whisky matured in first fill sherry seasoned European oak and refill sherry casks. Expect the richer side of The Macallan, with dried fruits, sweet spices, dark chocolate, and a long, oak led finish. Its presentation celebrates the journey of the oak tree, from the forest to the cooperage and, eventually, the whisky in your glass.

The 485-acre Macallan estate lies within an area of natural beauty in the heart of Speyside, producing whisky with their curiously small stills that ensure maximum copper contact, shaping the rich, fruity spirit. This spirit is then aged in exceptional, distinctive oak casks of the highest quality, which are all seasoned with sherry in Jerez De La Frontera, Spain.
