Using 100% blue weber agave and natural yeast, this reposado is both double-distilled and double-matured. Initially resting for 11 months in medium-char American white oak casks, it then spends an additional two months in hand-selected vintage Port casks, before being bottled up with that signature horse-shoe branding.
Port cask finished Herradura Reposado? Erm, yes please.
Dried fruit, ripe plum, oak-aged agave and peppery spice, with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, caramel and coffee bean.
Sometimes I think that tequilas (particularly reposado's which are a new trend anyway) are getting too messed about with in attempts to find a gap in the market or a USP. Clearly though Herradura always know what they are doing and are aiming high with this one. The port cask finish adds a very interesting but well balanced addition to the light fruit basket of flavours. Its delicate if a little sour on the finish. Its very good, the bottle is super stylish (almost a decanter) but for the money I know I can buy some first class fully aged anejos on this very site....
