With a rich family history in tequila, Guillermo Sauza launched Fortaleza in 2005, bringing back the traditions of previous generations at the family distillery that had sat unused for too long. This celebrated añejo was aged for 18 months in American oak casks.
A beautiful combination of agave and butterscotch, sultana and mixed peels. Oily, complex, outstanding.

No additives (sugar,glycerine,colorant) On the Nose I get Agave then a slight bubblegum fallowed by grilled pineapple.Comparing this to G4 Anejo,Fortaleza just has so much more going on.Taste is honey-pepper-olive-ruby grapefruit and subtle burnt brown sugar.Oak is balanced and I do not get that bourbon thing that I do not like in some Tequilas.This is a excellent true natural pure Tequila Anejo. Its a little known fact but if you have ever wondered why there is currently no Extra Anejo expression from Fortaleza it is because they used it experimentally as a blend with the Anejo batch 42-a and 43-a. The only way you would know is the darker colour and handwritten Lote # on the back label. The result is sublime, unique and very rare and collectors have grabbed every bottle. So a big thank you to Masters Of Malt for sending me one of those. It's fabulous!
I only drink the finest tequila but i was taken aback at just how nice this tequila was. One on the very best sipping tequilas i have ever tasted! Amazing smooth flavour, i can't recommend it highly enough.

An amazing tequila from one of the best distilleries. I've had all 3 of their expressions, but this one shines. It compares well to Don Julio 1942
