Bundaberg is a 2 year old Australian dark rum spirit drink (technically it's not a rum as it's just a whisker under 37.5% ABV). The company is named for Bundaberg in Queensland where the company was started.
The nose is sweet with Demerara and molasses, spice and pepper and plenty of oak. The palate is dry with oak and spice, a little brown sugar sweetness and spice. The finish is spicy and woody.
I bought a bottle in Bali during a holiday in 2018…. At first I thought it was the most unusual tasting rum I’d had, but like most rums as you progress through the bottle you seem to aquire the taste and I found myself looking forward to a drink…..I’ve found out since that Bunderberg expanded their range and had to fall in line with other worldwide rums because the export of the ‘Bundy’ which we are reviewing now flopped on the export market, and hat’s off to the Bunderberg Company they produced a ‘World’s best’ in 2016 which Ive had the privelage to have had on 2 occasions ( 2 bottles that is!) but back to Bundy… the aussie’s are proud of their favourite rum tipple…. It’s an institution and if you’re any kind of rum fanatic … it’s an institution you must open your mind to and give a whirl…. I’ve been trying to get Master Of Malt to add the Bunderberg entire range to their own to make it accesible to us Brits!
There is no need to review this rum. Either you've tried it properly (coke & ice on a freaking hot day) or you'll do something stupid like drink it neat and puke. This is a Queensland/Australian classic. Follow the locals and drink with coke & ice. Otherwise, leave well enough alone. This is not a sipping rum.
The smoothest rum with its own distinct flavour. Why are you always running out? Because 97% of output is consumed in Australia & New Zealand. The locals can’t get enough so there’s not much left for export.
Terrible! Turpentine.
Vile.
