Bourbon Bourbon binds the brilliance of bourbon and bourbon biscuits beautifully. Triumphs of alliteration aside, this fantastic expression features Kentucky bourbon infused with actual, full-on, real bourbon biscuits, and blended with dark chocolate and vanilla to accentuate those familiar flavours from the eponymous biscuits (and you could say they appear in the eponymous bourbon too, I suppose). Wonderfully satisfying sipped neat, and more than capable of putting a chocolatey twist on classic cocktails, like an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Not only is it tasty, it's also a great example of a heteronym! Bonus.
Earthy vanilla and runny caramel, with a core of chocolate ganache underneath. There's still plenty of oaky spices and buttery notes from the bourbon coming through.
Cacao, another helping of authentic vanilla, a hint of orange developing shortly joined by malt and more chocolate.
Bourbon biscuit sweetness on the finish, with a touch of buttered corn and toasted oak.
There's clearly a focus on the chocolatey, biscuity notes, but the bourbon's character is never obscured and remains integral to the fantastic flavour profile.
One to keep in your collection as it’s very, very easy to drink. I was sceptical that it would have any hints of Bourbon biscuits but on opening the bottle the first smell left me in no doubt. A wonderful nose of the biscuit and evident on the taste too. Very sweet but not in a sickly way. I have no doubt this bottle won’t last long so I placed another order.
Like an instant old fashioned, with chocolate bitters and a vanilla sweetness. Ruddy delicious.
Well where to start - I was sceptical of Bourbon Bourbon as I would proclaim to be a purist in most respects of the word. Something about adding chocolatey biscuits to a Bourbon just sounds too much like a new JD off-spin, one to be enjoyed only at 2:13am when a friend force-feeds a shot of one down your neck. I was, however, very wrong indeed. The nose is distinctively chocolatey, however inoffensively combined with malty undertones. The palate is again more chocolate and an unmistakable warm Digestive and butterscotch note. To say these (Neat of course) go down faster than a slightly more well-nourished child on a slide would be an understatement. The finish is so wonderfully smooth it leaves you craving more. It's possible that the fact that these biscuits reside so heavily in my memoirs of being a child that unearth this passion for said tipple. It would be fair to say that this may not be your go-to bourbon due to the sweetness (although subtle but prevalent) it may therefore place this firmly in ones 'After supper' choice list, for myself, however, the combination of flavours and notes leave such a well-balanced finish, it would be fair to say that this takes pole position of my 2020 Whiskey discoveries.
I know I know... it's biscuit flavoured Bourbon... but it really does taste like the biscuits, and not in a horrible way. It's stupidly drinkable. We finished the bottle rather too quickly and I've just found out the Mrs has bought another one!
Really not sure what to make of this... It definitely feels a bit gimmicky to me, I can't get past the sickly chocolate biscuit taste, and then a little spice as after taste. I really wanted to like this cos I like bourbon biscuits and a good bourbon. But the two together are just too much!
