The Singleton 12 Year Old is dripping in Speyside charm. Soft orchard fruits, honeyed sweetness and gentle spice glide along a silky, easy-going texture. Lagavulin 16 Year Old needs no introduction, but it earns the praise anyway. Deep peat smoke, dried fruit sweetness, savoury richness and a finish that seems to echo for minutes. It is powerful without being aggressive, complex without being hard work. A proper fireside whisky, even if the fire is imaginary and the weather is terrible.
