Don't turn your noses up at cream sherry - wines like Solera 1847 offer masses of decadent richness for very little money. This is a blend of 75% oloroso sherry with 25% Pedro Ximenez. It's a very versatile wine, try it sipped neat with blue cheese or use it to sweeten an Old Fashioned instead of sugar syrup. One sip and you will be hooked.
Chocolate orange notes on the nose. Sweet on the palate, lots of raisin PX character, then the earthy nutty oloroso flavour comes through. Sweet without being cloying.

Lovely dark colour, smooth and complex taste elements (fig, molasses, dark chocolate come to mind). On a par with equivalent Lustau, but much better value. We find it makes a wonderful aperitif, and is equally good with pudding. We buy it by the case.
