Why we love Highland Scotch whisky
In terms of flavour profile, the Highlands might be one of the hardest whisky-producing regions in Scotland to pin down, because it covers such a large geographical area (in fact, the largest geographical area out of all the Scotch whisky regions), but that's what makes it fabulous! It covers such a breadth of flavour diversity, encompassing historic distilleries like Dalmore and Glenmorangie, as well as newer distilleries like Nc'nean.
What is Highland Scotch like?
In a word: diverse! The north encompasses rich, full-bodied whiskies like The Dalmore; the south produces lighter, fruitier whiskies from distilleries like Aberfeldy; to the east, the whiskies become a little more pungent and fruity, like Glen Garioch; and in the west the whiskies are peatier, while nearer the coast they become more maritime, from distilleries such as Clynelish and Pulteney.
What does Highland whisky taste like?
A range of different flavours! The hardest region to summarise when it comes to flavour diversity, you'll have to explore the breadth of Highland Scotch whisky to discover all that it has to offer – we can help with that.
