The 12 year old Real McCoy rum, matured in heavily charred bourbon barrels. Rich and oak-y, with bundles of Christmas cake, Demerara sugar and pipe tobacco notes. The 'Real McCoy' name is based on the nickname believed to have been given to the spirits sold by Bill McCoy, legendary Prohibition-era smuggler.
Heavy vanilla and brown sugar notes up front, swiftly followed by banana fritters.
Rich and chocolatey. Fruit esters remain, with a touch of smoke developing on the mid-palate.
Barrel char and chocolate-coated peanuts.

I was looking for a gift for my husband who is just starting to really get into his rums. I asked a friend of mine who owns a rum bar which rum they’d recommend for him. I was looking to go up to the £50 Mark and really had no clue what I was buying. They suggested this rum and of course I trusted them as they know their rum! Safe to say he loves it. He has since built up quite a collection but this remains a firm favourite. I am now about to buy a second bottle for him.
