Pineapple and rum, a match made in Tiki heaven. Created by the folks behind The Bitter Truth bitters range, Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum takes its inspiration from way back when Caribbean distillers would macerate pineapples in sugar cane spirit, imparting a fruity dimension to their rum. This expression uses pineapples from South America, which are then pressed and infused into the rum. Speaking of which, the rum is a blend of aged & unaged Jamaican pot still rum from Hampden Estate and Worthy Park, alongside three year old Barbados rum from Foursquare aged in bourbon barrels, and finally some young column still rums from both Trinidad and Guyana. That's quite a blend!
Fresh and almost zesty pineapple sweetness, with notes of dried fruit, honey, dark chocolate and oak from the rum blend.
Do not understand negative comments. For free here is the best recipe to a Mai Tai x2 drinks the mix is: 100ml Tiki Pineapple Rum 25ml Cointreau 37.5ml Fresh Lime Juice 15ml Orgeat (or Falernum syrup is a good alternative) Shake over Ice, discard ice Pour over fresh crushed Ice x2 off 'The Original Marashino' Cherries on Bamboo tied sticks per drink. Old Fashioned Glass, Big Fat straws NB: I have worked for 5 years to mix this perfect Mai Tai as above, enjoy 10/10 You are welcome! Tony (AKA Mr Scrim)
If you're coming off the back of Plantations Stiggins Fancy, tread careful. This is POTENT. I found this really sweet, and has a strong fruit flavour. I had to really knock back the ratio. A 1/40z is plenty in a Mai Tai Obv the tiki lovers saves you some money, and as the ratio can be reduced offers good value for money, great for the crowd! Keep the Stiggins for your glass.
Finally a good mixing rum. It is not meant to be enjoyed neat as it is quite potent and strong in flavors but it will shine in a tiki or mixed drink! A treat for the bartenders!
Didn't like this, horrible aftertaste
Having enjoyed Plantations Stiggins Fancy, I though it would be worth giving this a try - bad idea. This is not to be drunk neat - it's very strongly flavoured, with strong burnt caramel notes and a bitter, acrid aftertaste. I tried this with my friend and we both poured our glasses down the sink. However, and this is the reason why I won't give it 1 star - it would probably make a very good Pina Colada and if you're using it as an ingredient rather than enjoying neat it's probably quite good.
