An interesting release from Tanduay in the Philippines, named Double Rum because it combines two different expressions, one five year old and one 16 year old rum, which are married in a first-fill bourbon cask for two years. Immensely fruity, with sweet vanilla and lightly toasted nuts, it's a superb sipper neat, and ought to stand up nicely in some classic rum cocktails too.
Silky vanilla opens the way for plenty of tropical fruit sweetness. Charred pineapple, a touch of peach, and some candied stone fruits balance roasted nuts, toasted oak, and a pang of cardamom and clove.
I bought this because of a link I received for the top10 rums. This was ranked no1 on the list and I'd never heard of it, or tried it before. I do not profess to be a connisioir of rum but the flavours of charred pineapple and vanilla are very evident [i surprisd myself recognising these]. Now I have I will buy it again. I drank it with a fellow rum lover and we were both pleasantly surprised. I can recommend this without hesitation. We both drank this straight with just a ball of ice.

My bottle tastes and smells like brandy! Blind tasters almost all select brandy. Nevertheless it is delicious. Could be an anomaly, will need to test more bottles. Have every intention of so doing. Discerning wife also unusually keen, so not just me!
