A fascinating rum created by those inventive Sweetdram folks, made using a base of aged Guyanese rum. In this rum, they macerate lime leaf, chamomile, cardamom, fennel, grains of paradise and fig, as well as lanpsang souchong - which imparts the smokiness to the mix.
Elegant but forward smokiness, backed up by grilled tropical fruit, tobacco and sweet vanilla.
Read about this in a rum book and couldn't resist buying a bottle. It's miles ahead of any spiced rum I've ever tasted. I tried it in a Dark and Stormy with ginger beer and lime (like it says on the back label) and it was fantastic - then I took the bottle along to a friend's BBQ over the weekend and mixed up a few daiquiris, which were a real crowd pleaser. I'd never heard of these guys before but will definitely be buying a bottle of Escubac soon to give it a try. Hugely impressed - and such a beautiful bottle!
