A special bottling from Chairman's Reserve, celebrating the legacy of founder Laurie Bernard! His vision and passion for good rum pushed the St Lucia Distillers to expand their kit and broaden their rum horizons. Pot stills were added to their existing column still set up, dormant sugar cane fields were replanted for their own estate grown sugar and the craft of blending the brand's different rums to achieve greater character and complexity began. And so, the much revered Chairman's Reserve brand was born! This expression includes column and pot still molasses based rums blended with estate grown sugar cane rum, creating a true realisation of Laurie Bernard's vision.
Butterscotch, dark berries and sultanas with hints of spicy oak, tobacco, pine, and nutmeg spice. Bananas with vanilla caramel sauce, charred pineapple with burnt brown sugar and spice on the finish.
£4.32 - £26.75
I was lucky enough to visit St lucia distillers late last year, so I have sampled many of their commercially available rums, including the admiral rodney offerings. This rum, with its depth, complexity and superb long finish keeps me coming back for more. You will be hard pressed to find a better sipping rum at this price point. Whenever this goes on sale, I hoover up a few bottles because it really is that good.
One of the best rums out there for the price. The small addition of cane juice gives it so much character.
Excellent St Lucian rum which (I think) is made from a mix of molasses and sugar cane juice. It means it has a touch of the French rhum agricole about it but with the depth of Navy style rum. I like it and haven’t come across anything else quite like it.
Buttery at the start and spicy at the finish, an excellent sipping rum. Use something else if you like rum and coke. Lovely
Best rum I’ve had to date under £40. Very unusual flavour that has me hooked. Only ever had it neat.
