Sailor Jerry
Sailor Jerry is a spiced rum created by the famed tattoo artist and sailor 'Sailor Jerry' Collins. This is perhaps our favourite spiced rum, it makes an incredible spiced mojito!
We know that some of you out there aren't so keen on the new Sailor Jerry recipe. You can correct the flavour of the new version very easily by adding some dark sugar and vanilla essence to the bottle and giving it a good shake - it really does work!
Vanilla spice, butter, oak, cinnamon, nutmeg and ground ginger. Drying and sweet on the palate with notes of winter spice and black pepper, toffee.

I drink my jerry straight followed by a swig of cola. Love it dearly. The spice of the rum with the flavor of an ice cold cola finished with the legendary wooden barrel taste. One of my favorites.
The Best rum
Okay so this is the rum that I will drink if there is nothing else available. I prefer Kraken Black Rum or Pyrate but Sailor Jerry isn't bad. It tastes very nice when mixed with cola and the spice in the cola mixes well with the spice in Sailor's however I only really recommend this as a mixer. I do enjoy rum neat or on the rocks (especially Kraken) but Sailor Jerry tries a little to hard in my opinion. When drunk neat the spice in my opinion is really overbearing and I get a very strong alcohol taste almost like rubbing alcohol. It seems as though they tried to cover that alcohol taste with all the spice. After the spice has worn off you get a hint of wood and oak flavor to the rum. I sort of view this as a rum for people who usually drink whiskey because when I drink Sailor Jerry i'm sort of reminded of a whiskey with the oak flavor at the end. It's not a bad rum and in a pinch when my local watering hole doesn't have what I want this stuff works nicely. It's not bad at all but it's not a rum I would go out of my way to buy. All in all it's a decent rum to use as a mixer but not to sip on neat or on the rocks at least not for me.
Spiced rum of all brands is rubbish. I have always drunk dark rum (oscuro) in many countries but spiced rum is definitely the worst. Worse even than alcopops. What lamebrain thought that they could improve on perfection like the best Carribean rums? I have NEVER taste a decent spiced rum. My name is Roger Roberts, 70 years old at rogerxroberts@hotmail.co.uk. My mom was a rum drinker too. Let's ban spiced rum.
Great stuff! Sophie has tried the kraken, however, i have not, and i must. soon come.
