A favourite here at Master of Malt, this is a truly superb Guatemalan rum, blended using the solera system, and including rums aged between six and 23 years. Sublime stuff, matured in a mix of bourbon and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Very sweet and nutty, honey and chocolate. Dark brown sugar, gentle smoke. Pipe tobacco.
Very sweet and soft. Dark brown sugar, molasses, rounded, so gentle!
Thick, medium length, hint of smoke on the tail.
$39.53 - $161.91
Mark Steel recommended this to me so I bought my Bro and I a bottle each for Christmas. Deepest richest rum so far, lovely layers and lushness coming through. Gentle to drink while being so deep and flavourful. New benchmark of rum thats the next level up, had a fair few rums in the 40quid range and this tops everyone so far, Cheers Mark.
Perhaps a little harsh a a little alcohol burn but still drinkable.
Smooth with a subtle sweetness of molasses a very nice rum to sip
Our local pub sells Ron Zapaca XO. After tasting that and seeing the offer of 3 for 2 of the Ron Zapaca 23, it would have been silly not to purchase. Bottle No. 1 is over half way down after just 2 weeks. Extremely tasty!
I enjoyed this, however, I didn’t find it as gentle, smooth and sweet for sipping as expected. I liked the smoky flavour, however, having tried the dram I wouldn’t buy a bottle.
