A favourite here at Master of Malt, this is a truly superb Guatemalan rum, blended using the solera system, and including rums aged between six and 23 years. Sublime stuff, matured in a mix of bourbon and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Very sweet and nutty, honey and chocolate. Dark brown sugar, gentle smoke. Pipe tobacco.
Very sweet and soft. Dark brown sugar, molasses, rounded, so gentle!
Thick, medium length, hint of smoke on the tail.

Specially when you mix it with Blue Lagoon
First of all don't misunderstand it is not trying to claim that its a 23yr old rum, its a play on a play, the minimum age of a rum in the bottle is 6 years and goes all the way up to 23. Also the rum is aged 2300ft above sea level hence the name. Apart from that the rum is great by itself or on ice. I recoment a dash of organge bitters and orange slice. Enjoy
Discovered this on a trip to Belize and then found locally. A little on the sweet side, but great just to pour a couple oz over a little ice or with a splash of Coke. I never really liked rum before and some of the so called rum you get in Central America the locals pour into coconuts doesn't help, but glad I ran across this. I've gradually learned that when you travel, ask around at the decent places and you discover gems every now and then.
Nice but not a patch on El Dorado 12 you do the math!
A year and a half ago the Mrs and I visited Dominican Republic and I tried some real Rum (previous rum encounters were Bacardi and coke). I've been a whisky drinker for a while now and decided to try this based on the reviews. It is an amazing rum. Fantastic nose, sweet but complex on the palate and it is incredibly smooth. There is none of that alcoholic burn you can get with cheap rums or young spirits. Delighted with the purchase and very much looking forward to having some friends around and sipping it neat. Highly recommend!
