A favourite here at Master of Malt, this is a truly superb Guatemalan rum, blended using the solera system, and including rums aged between six and 23 years. Sublime stuff, matured in a mix of bourbon and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Very sweet and nutty, honey and chocolate. Dark brown sugar, gentle smoke. Pipe tobacco.
Very sweet and soft. Dark brown sugar, molasses, rounded, so gentle!
Thick, medium length, hint of smoke on the tail.
One of the best sipping rums you can buy, it’s not hard to see why Zacapa has won so many awards! Anyone that says otherwise is a moron. Smokey coffee taste and very nutty, while being quite sweet, just beautiful.
Liked but didn't love
This is a rum that I can drink much of in one sitting. 40%? Tastes more like 30%, thus dangerous in its company.
Like a bad vodka, thin and so so sweet, a kind of mix betwin corn syrup and the taste I imagine for gasoline.... overpriced, and ppl who give that a 5 stars review have never taste real and good ol' rhum...
All those ppl who give 5* are paid. I gave 1* also being generous. Fqint aroma, thin and insipid, very spirity almost some paint striper. No aftertaste. I pass to my wife for baking. Better pay more for El Dorado.
