A particularly flavoursome overproof rum from the Ron Colón Salvadoreño range. This expression is built around an aged column-still rum from El Salvador, blended with unaged Jamaican rums from Worthy Park, Hampden and Monymusk, as well as a little helping of aged rum Worthy Park too. Full-bodied stuff, with plenty of tropical fruit vibrancy alongside a touch of high-ester funkiness. A sublime sipping rum (you'll want to add a few drops of water to it, mind - it is 55.5% ABV), and more than suitable for all sorts of cocktails.
Flamed orange peel, funky esters with a hint or two, milk chocolate, macadamia nuts, fried dough and earthy spices.
Nice punchy rum for the price.
Gorgeous sipping rum much more robust than the standard version of Ron Colon blend which taste well but is very light for a dark rum, this sweet dark brown liquor from the House of Colon is the business and will knock your socks off !!! Think molasses, orange peel, with hints of hint fried banana, cardamon, chocolate and earthy spiced aroma, perfect served hot in a bowl at parties or Christmas- warming and very smoooth, possibly a long coffee like aftertaste with of hint of mocha, eucalyptus or jays fluid. Strong and very long but so smooth !!! Being Over Proof watch how much you drink….it also goes very well with Rum Punch and Hot Chocolate ! Still think the dull bottle and label does it no favours the name needs a bit of a rebrand. May be bring the Salvadoreno name to the fore.
Wow, this was an experience. Very different to other high ABV rums, crisp and smooth but still earthy notes from the coffee. Mix with tonic and win the party. Easy.
GRRR I love this one. Love high & overproof Jamaican Rums and this hits the spot. Even if most of this blend is from El Salvador, it contains a little Jamaican, and they pack a punch. I sip this neat, but if you can't take the heat of its high proof, it also creates great classics and tropical drinks.
High proof doesn't always mean high flavour. Here it does. Being at 55.5% means it's a total flavour bomb. Ripe banana, juicy pineapple, grassy sugar cane, and them BAM...the Jamaican funk comes flying at you. But not in the Wary & Nephew way...not this is integrated funk. Mixed in cocktails, it gives it depth and interest, without overwhelming. Stellar, especially for the price.
