An excellent Dominican rum, Barceló Imperial was awarded a Gold Medal and also the coveted "Best In Category" title at the 2008 International Cane Spirits Festival. This is aged for between 4 and 10 years, and offers a superb flavour profile.
Fresh, buttery and creamy on the nose, with hints of sweet nuts, caramelised fruit and oak.
Dark brown sugar, toffee apples, stewed fruits, malmsey, oak and spices.
Long, good length and texture with hints of cedar wood and cigar leaves.

i got the imperial from a friend as a gift and normaly i only drink whiskey but the the day came my whiskey was out and so i drank the ron barcelo imperial and it was and i guess ever will be the best rum that exist and now i drink sometimes my whiskey and sometimes my ronny barcelo ;-)
I was at the LCBO today and found Ron Barcélo ??...about time. I also tried it in the DR and in Europe..Love it.
I brought a bottle of this rum home with me recently from Punta Cana without having tried it first ,but once i was home and opened it, there was no comparison to other dark rums I normally drink, I thought it was the best rum Ive ever had and am very disappointed I didn't bring more home. Im thinking i'm not going to find this rum anywhere in Canada after searching the internet, a good reason to return to the dominican as far as I'm concerned! :)
Rich, dark color. Nice nose with scents of caramel, vanilla, brown sugar and bourbon. Buttery on the palate and smooth going down with a slight burn to remind you of the alcohol content. Great sipping rum.
Best rum I have tested of price/quality. Realy mens character
