A 7 year old rum from Panama made by Varela-Hermanos. Ron Abuelo is made using distillery grown sugar cane and is aged in white oak barrels.
This Abuelo 7 Year Old Rum is my personal benchmark of what an affordable aged rum should offer. I have tried many different 7 Year Rums from different countries over the years. I have a few favourites. This one is my pick of the bunch. It has that burnt caramel edge that reveals its aging process and tempers any excessive sweetness. I always take my time with this one and drink it neat!
Smooth enough to drink neat but for me too much caramel flavour
Surprisingly smooth. Heat from the alcohol is barely perceptible. Honey, vanilla, slight smoke.
Absolutely amazing,one of the nicest rums I have tasted. But price is to high, $7.00 us in Panama for one litre!!!
