A fantastic treat from the Planteray range originally created by the company's cellar master Alexandre Gabriel and drinks historian David Wondrich for Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans in 2015. To make it, they infuse the rinds of Queen Victoria pineapples in their white rum for a week then distil it, and infuse the fruit of the pineapples in dark rum for three months. These are married together and left to age in casks for three months. Pineapple deliciousness galore!
Also, if you're wondering about the name, it comes from the character Reverend Stiggins in Pickwick Papers, whose favourite drink was 'pineapple rum'.
We reckon Plantation Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy is one of our Best Rums under £40!
Honeydew melon, cola cubes and a hint of Jamaican ginger cake. Pineapple notes are authentic, but not overblown.
Spiced molasses tart and crumbly shortbread. Pineapple lends juicy and slightly earthy elements. Cassia spiciness develops.
Vanilla, lemon, mango and spearmint.
Bought a sample as part of a build your own box of samples. This being the only rum in a box filled with 4 whisky samples. The wild card. Really surprised and glad I added it now. By far the best rum I ever tried. Sank neat, it really did go down well. The pineapple was not at all overwhelming. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be purchasing a full bottle.
Bought a bottle and shared with friends - didn’t last long and was an instant favourite with everyone, even those who didn’t consider themselves rum drinkers. The pineapple is subtle, the rum smooth with a long finish.
bloody great stuff finished a bottle of this nectar between my mate and myself in one night its the bomb
Very impressed! Don't judge a book by its cover! Do, however, judge a rum by its presentation....buy this and you won't be disappointed!
As a professional in the bar industry, I can say this rum blend is unique and amazing. A perfect balance of molasses and pineapple. Beautiful bottle and story to go with it. I recommend this to every rum lover and bartender. Versatile in a cocktail, or as I love it over ice with a lime wedge
